Who is the top scorer and which team is named World Champion at the end of the tournament? These questions are just a small part of the tasks and responsibilities of the IIHF Result Managers at any IIHF tournament and the core Result Manager group teamed up this weekend in Bratislava, Slovakia for a seminar packed with training, education and knowledge-sharing to prepare for the 2018/2019 season.

IIHF Technology Director Martin Zoellner’s opening session reviewed the 465 games of the 2017/2018 season with the evaluation based primarily on the incidents and support issues that arose during these games. This analysis as well as comments and inputs from the Result Managers during the season were used when developing the latest release (version 9) of the IIHF Hydra software that is used at all tournament levels.

After a short presentation of the new release the Result Managers trained hands-on with the latest version to gain experience before their first assignments of the season.

The weekend also featured an informal dinner with the 2019 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship Organizing Committee as well as several opportunities for the Result Managers and their management to get together and share experiences from a busy season including the PyeongChang Olympic Winter Games.

The Result Managers are now ready to face the challenges of the season and look forward to participating at IIHF events all over the world.
