Due to financial and organizational circumstances Ukrainian club Sokil Kyiv had to withdraw its participation in the 2022/2023 IIHF Continental Cup.
Sokil Kyiv was the first-ranked team in the Ukrainian championship prior to the premature end of the season due to the war. The club will be replaced by HK Kremenchuk, the second-ranked team of the Ukrainian championship.
HK Kremenchuk was founded in 2010 and after the opening of its Iceberg Arena quickly became one of the top clubs in the top league and became national champion in 2020. HK Kremenchuk already played in the 2015/2016 IIHF Continental Cup as second-ranked team of the country.
The team is seeded in Group F of the third round that takes place from 18 to 20 November and includes Slovak host HK Nitra, Unia Oswiecim from Poland and the winner of Group D in Asiago.
