Georgi Zubko became the new President of the Ice Hockey Federation of Ukraine. The candidate was elected during the federation’s General Congress, which took place on 18 December.
31 delegates voted for Zubko, one person abstained, and no one voted against the nominated candidate.
Anatoli Brezvin, who has been the President of the Ice Hockey Federation of Ukraine for the past 14 years, didn’t run for another term and was named Honorary President.
Previously Zubko was the Vice President of the Ice Hockey Federation of Ukraine (2016-2020). While he was serving, the U18 national team of Ukraine won Division IB gold in 2018 and the women’s national team of Ukraine resumed its existence after a 20-year break making its World Championship debut in 2019.
The newly elected President was also the chairman of the organizing committees of three IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship tournaments hosted in the capital of Kyiv in 2017, 2018 and 2019.
