The New Zealand Ice Hockey Federation has withdrawn its women’s national team that was entered to participate in the IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship program due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the travel restrictions.
The women’s national team thus won’t participate in the 2021 IIHF Ice Hockey Women’s World Championship Division Division II Group B scheduled to take place in March in Zagreb, Croatia. The tournament will take place with five teams instead of six.
New Zealand had earlier withdrawn the men’s U20 and women’s U18 national teams for the same reason and with the women’s national team withdrew the team that was scheduled to participate next in an IIHF event.
