Bulgaria recently hosted the 2020 IIHF Ice Hockey U20 World Championship Division III in Sofia and will also host 2020 IIHF Ice Hockey U18 World Championship Division II Group B that was originally scheduled in China.

The 2020 IIHF Ice Hockey U18 World Championship Division II Group B that was originally scheduled to take place in March in Tianjin, China, will be moved to Sofia, Bulgaria.
The relocation was already announced on Wednesday in agreement with the Chinese Ice Hockey Association as the original host, due to the coronavirus outbreak in China.
In discussions with all participating teams the bid from Bulgaria to fill in as new host has been approved on Friday. The tournament will take place from 23 to 29 March 2020 with the game schedule to be established soon.
Beside Bulgaria and China, the participants include Australia, Croatia, the Netherlands and Spain.
The IIHF thanks the Bulgarian Ice Hockey Federation for organizing this event at a short notice and all participating teams for their flexibility.
