The Swiss Ice Hockey Federation wants to advance women’s hockey in the country and adjust its structure to do so.

Daniela Diaz will take over the new position as Manager Women’s National Teams & Women’s Development. The former national team player has been the head coach of the women’s national team for the last four years and will now fully focus on the managerial position. The goal of this central position is to bring together all the different tasks in women’s hockey and will be the interface for women’s hockey for the national team, youth and amateur hockey, the IIHF and Swiss Olympic.

At the Swiss national team her successor will be Colin Muller as head coach. The Swiss-Canadian worked as an assistant coach for the women’s national team last season. He was also working for the SIHF between 2011 and 2014 as assistant coach of Sean Simpson at the men’s national team and in 2014 as U20 national team head coach at the World Juniors.

At the U18 women’s national team outgoing head coach Steve Huard will be replaced by Florence Schelling. The former goaltender represented Switzerland in four Olympic Winter Games and eleven Women’s World Championships. She was a bronze medallist at the 2012 Women’s Worlds and 2014 Olympics where she was in both years named best goaltender and at the latter tournament also voted MVP.

Schelling retired as a goaltender one year ago and has worked as an assistant coach of the U18 women’s national team last winter. Last week she was one of the mentors at the 2019 IIHF Goaltending Development Camp.
