Puck control plus reach
Objective: Improve players to stickhandle with the reach while moving. Warm up.
Points of emphasis:
Points of emphasis:
- Player is in the hockey stance gliding forward, feet shoulder width apart, head up
- A Firm grip with the upper hand, a slightly loose grip with the bottom hand
- Keep both hands away and in front of the body
- Stickhandling puck with full extension of the arms on the sides
- When the puck is wide on the backhand side, stick is in one (upper) hand and bottom hand is off the stick
- Both hands should be close together when arms are fully extended on the forehand side
- Shift body weight from side to side together when stickhandling
