Skating on the outside edge on one leg backwards
Objective: Focus on the outside edge and creating power from single leg pushes
Points of emphasis:
Points of emphasis:
- Begin by skating backward around the circle
- Deep knee bend position
- Head and chest up
- Hold stick in the top hand
- Weight is transferred onto the outside edge of the inside foot
- Power is loaded into the inside leg
- Push against the ice as powerful as possible
- Outside leg and hand perform powerful thrusting movements to keep speed and movement up
- Maximize the power and speed of one leg
