Objective: Focus on the outside edge and creating power from single leg pushes 

Points of emphasis: 
  • Begin by skating backward around the circle 
  • Deep knee bend position  
  • Head and chest up 
  • Hold stick in the top hand 
  • Weight is transferred onto the outside edge of the inside foot  
  • Power is loaded into the inside leg 
    • Push against the ice as powerful as possible 
  • Outside leg and hand perform powerful thrusting movements to keep speed and movement up  
  • Maximize the power and speed of one leg
