Backhand passing + receiving
Points of emphasis:
   Passing 
  • Player is in the hockey stance 
  • Bringing the puck behind the body 
  • Shift the weight to the back leg 
    • Head is up, looking at the other player 
  • Making eye contact with the receiver 
  • Cup the blade of the stick over the puck 
  • Shift weight to the front foot 
  • Snap and roll wrists 
  • Follow through keeping the blade low and pointed towards the target  
  • Be prepared to receive 
Receiving
  • Player is in the hockey stance 
  • Head is up looking at the puck 
    • Making eye contact with the passer 
  • Stick blade is on the ice 
  • Show the back side of the stick blade where you want to receive the puck  
  • Keep the back side of the stick blade at 90° towards the direction of the puck 
  • As the puck touches the stick blade, move the stick blade backwards 
    • Relaxing the wrists and cushioning the puck 
  • Be prepared to pass
