Stockholm

Regarded as one of the world’s most beautiful cities, Stockholm spreads across fourteen islands, right at the heart where freshwater meets the sea. With eight centuries of history, this is a city rich in culture. Stockholm also has a strong track record of hosting major sporting events. The Olympics in 1912, the FIFA World Cup in 1958, and the IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship, which the city has hosted ten times.

Games in Stockholm

In Stockholm, Sweden, the following teams will compete in the 2025 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship starting May 9th, 2025: Austria, Canada, Finland, France, Latvia, Slovakia, Sweden, and Slovenia. Of the 64 games in the tournament, 34—including the gold medal game—will be held in Stockholm.

Transportation in Stockholm

With Stockholm’s local transportation network, including the subway, tram, bus, ferry, and commuter train, you can go almost anywhere. You don’t need a physical transportation card to purchase single tickets. Instead, you can tap your payment card directly on the ticket reader or buy a digital ticket through the public transport app and scan the ticket directly from your phone. Travel cards are also available for 24 or 72 hours.

Old Town

The Vasa Museum
Restored to its former glory, the impressive 17th-century ship Vasa is really something. The Vasa Museum offers not only the Vasa ship itself but a window in time and a glimpse of the lives of those building the ship.

Djurgården
This expansive recreational area invites you to enjoy both nature and museums. Be sure to visit Skansen, an open-air museum that showcases Sweden, with some extra punch added. Alternatively, out on your dancing shoes and step into the interactive experience of ABBA The Museum.
