2025 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship game schedule released

The International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) has released the game schedule of the 2025 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship following approval by all teams and stakeholders.

In Stockholm, the following teams will play: Austria, Canada, Finland, France, Latvia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Sweden.
 
In Herning, the following teams will play: Czech Republic, Denmark, Germany, Hungary, Kazakhstan, Norway, Switzerland, USA.
 
Group A in Stockholm starts 9 May with the official opening game between Sweden and Slovakia. The big rivalry game between Sweden and Finland will be played on 12 May and Sweden will finish the group stage by facing Canada on 20 May.
 
Tony Wiréhn, General Secretary and CEO of the 2025 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship in Stockholm:
“We have tried to put together a schedule that will attract all fans who love hockey and who will visit Stockholm and Herning in May 2025. It is also important that the schedule creates fairness and good opportunities for all teams to do their best. And we think we have succeeded in that and are absolutely sure that an amazing tournament is ahead of us”.
 
In Group B in Herning, Denmark will face USA in their opening game on 9 May and finish against Germany on 20 May. The opening game of Group B will be a repeat of the 2024 IIHF WM final in Prague when the reigning world champions Czechia face Switzerland.

We will never forget the huge support we received from all these passionate fans of proud hockey nations during the 2018 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship in Herning/Copenhagen. Hopefully they all will participate again in this amazing event in Herning and Stockholm.”
 
The top-four teams of each group will advance to the quarter-finals which will be played on 22 May, two in Stockholm and two in Herning. The semi-finals will be played on 24 May in Stockholm and the medal games on 25 May in the same venue.

The tickets will be released on October 3, 2024.
