In Herning, Denmark, the following teams will play: Czechia, Denmark, Germany, Hungary , Kazakhstan , Norway, Switzerland and United States of America – starting the 2025 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship on 9 May 2025. Out of the 64 games played at the 2025 IIHF WM, 30 games in Herning – including two quarter-finals.

Herning is a beautiful modern city, which has hosted many big events – including the 2018 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship in Jyske Bank Boxen. With a good infrastructure – short distance from the Airport – but also with a variety of accommodation opportunities – hotels, hostels, B&B’s, holiday houses and camping right next to the arena.“We have a great cooperation with our Host City of Herning Municipality and its tourism organisation VisitHerning as well as with the venue organisation, who all have such an expertise and experience that everyone will have plenty of possibilities to stay in Herning or nearby with great surroundings and facilities”, Ulrik Larsen continues.

How is the food in Herning, Denmark?
The kitchen is very international with a lot of possibilities – steak, vegetarian, sushi, foodtrucks, café and even with a Michelin restaurant. You can also try on of the Danish traditional popular food – a red sausage – “rød pølse”.
What about the infrastructure in Herning?
You can fly into Billund Airport which is only 30 minutes away from Herning. There will be public transportation from the City Center of Host City Herning to Jyske Bank Boxen – and there is also a dedicated “fanwalk” from the City Center directly to the arena – Jyske Bank Boxen – 20 minutes of walk.
What about Herning, Jyske Bank Boxen and the Official Fan Zone?
Herning has about 87 000 citizens and by area Herning is the 3rd largest municipality. Herning is placed in the middle of Jutland – with short distance also to a lot of sight-seeing locations.
Jyske Bank Boxen was built in 2010 and was the first multi-purpose arena in Denmark. The arena opened same year launching a spectacular and sold-out Lady Gaga concert. The arena has a capacity of approximately 10.500 spectators, when ice hockey is played – like in 2018 team Denmark played all games at the venue during the 2018 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship – and all sold-out games for team Denmark.
Jyske Bank Boxen is located very close to the City Center – a short walk or with public transportation. The arena is a part of a local exhibition center, with thousands of square meters in surrounding buildings, which makes it possible to create a world class indoor and outdoor Official Fan Zone, which was such a success in 2018 for hockey fans across countries. You will also find an opportunity for hockey camping – right next to the Jyske Bank Boxen, as a different hockey experience.
