The IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship tickets priority purchase draw has started. Fans showed huge interest right from the start.

The organizers of the 2024 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship launched the registration for the priority ticket purchase draw on Thursday 20 July. 20% of the total capacity of both arenas will be divided among the winners for each game day of the group stage.

During the first 24 hours since the launch, nearly 15,000 users have registered for the priority purchase draw. "The great interest of hockey fans in registering has outlined to us that we can expect a large spectator base next year. Already an hour before the start, 5,000 people were waiting in the virtual queue. The last two Czech World Championships have been among the best attended. We are convinced that we will build on them next year," says Petr Briza, President of the Prague Organising Committee.

“We expect a great interest from both Czech and international hockey fans next year as well. The ticket priority purchase draw will help us to dilute the influx of fans and at the same time offer a fair form of ticket purchase," comments Petr Bříza on the form of the sale.

How does the draw work? The registration of participants comes first
In the first registration phase, participants must sign-up for the ticketportal.cz and fill in and submit the required information in the form available at ms2024.ticketportal.cz. Each registered participant will be informed of his/her successful registration via the email provided in the form. The second phase of the registration for the draw will take place from 20 August 2023 at 10:00 a.m. until 15 September 2023. Here, it will be necessary to select the preferred teams and then the game days in which the participant is interested. Each registered participant will be notified of their successful registration via their emai.

Drawing and opening of the purchase system for winners
The draw will take place from 18 September 2023 to 24 September 2023. All winners will be informed, where they will be able to purchase up to six tickets for each game day. Depending on their preferences from the registration form, there may be opportunities to purchase tickets for multiple game days. The sales system itself will be made available to the winners from 2 October 2023 at 10:00 am to October 8, 2023 at 11:59 pm CST. Winners will be able to choose from a capacity of seats designated for the draw in different price categories, on a first-come, first-served basis from a larger number of available seats.

Participants of the draw will also be informed by the organizer about other offers for ticket purchases and events related to the IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship 2024.

The first phase of public ticket sales will start on 10 October 2023. "The whole thing doesn't end if I'm not drawn. One of the benefits of registration is that users will be contacted with the latest information about tickets or when new tickets are released for sale. Participants will then be the first to know everything, which can be an undeniable advantage," concludes Petr Bříza.
