Omer Altay Suspended

The IIHF Championship Disciplinary Panel for the 2025 IIHF Ice Hockey U20 World Championship Division III Group A has issued a three-game suspension to Türkiye’s Omer Altay (#9) for delivering a dangerous cross check to the back of one of his opponent unable to protect himself and for raising his skate off the ice and making contact with another opposing player.  

The two incidents occurred at 46:50 and 49:33 in the third period of Game #6 between Chinese Taipei and Türkiye on 28 January. It involved a violation of IIHF Official Playing Rule 48 (Illegal Check to the Head or Neck) and Rule 49 (Kicking), and accordingly, the Disciplinary Panel has jurisdiction over the matter.  

Altay is suspended for three Games; specifically, Game #9 between Bulgaria and Türkiye, game #12 between Türkiye and New Zealand and #15 between Türkiye and Mexico of the 2025 IIHF Ice Hockey U20 World Championship Division III Group A.  
 
The objective of the Disciplinary Panel is to ensure player safety and the overall safety of the game.
