We suspected the quarter-finals would make things interesting for our third Power Rankings of the 2025 IIHF World Junior Championship, and those suspicions were validated with some wild hockey on Thursday in Ottawa. The defending champion U.S. returns to first place with a 7-2 walloping of Switzerland. The Czechs move into second place after ending Canada’s dreams – for the second straight year – with a dramatic 4-3 win. And Finland retains third place thanks to its hard-fought 5-3 victory over Slovakia. Bring on the final fight for the medals!
