Men’s and women’s 3-on-3 ice hockey gold medal games are set following exciting semifinal games in Korea
Gangneung Hockey Centre, GANGWON, South Korea – The undefeated Latvians are heading to the final of the men’s 3-on-3 ice hockey tournament at the Youth Olympic Games.
Latvia, 7-0 in preliminary-round action, continued its scorching-hot play in the semifinal round with a 19-5 victory over Kazakhstan. Latvia scored nine goals in the first to cruise to the win, adding three goals in the second and seven more in the final frame.
The gold medal game is next, with Latvia facing off against Denmark, which knocked off Austria in a tight game, 5-3. Both Denmark and Austria entered their semifinal battle with 5-2 records and the Danes erased a 2-1 deficit after the first to take the win and a spot in the gold medal game.
The gold medal game will see Latvia and Denmark play for the second time at these Games, with the Latvians winning in the preliminary round by an 11-6 score.
Austria (5-2 in preliminary round) and Kazakhstan (4-3) aren’t done yet, as the two teams will play for the bronze medal.

It was certainly a pro-Korea crowd at the Gangneung Hockey Centre for the women’s semifinal matchup between the host Koreans and China. And many of the fans left the arena happy, as Korea broke a 3-3 deadlock with two goals in the second period, en route to a 6-4 win in the hotly-contested game.
The Koreans entered the game as slight underdogs, finishing in third after preliminary-round play with a 4-2 record, while China was second at 6-1.
Korea moves on to the gold medal game where it will face an undefeated Hungary team (7-0), which continued its hot streak with a 14-4 win over Italy (4-2) in the other semifinal.
China and Italy will play for bronze.
