U.S. stays in first place, followed by Canada, Czechs
New York State witnessed a small earthquake recently, but the host Americans remain immovable atop our second Power Rankings of the 2024 IIHF Ice Hockey Women’s World Championship. With a 1-0 overtime win over Canada to close out the preliminary round in Utica, the unbeaten U.S. keeps its cross-border rivals in second place. And after two straight Group A losses to the North American superpowers by an aggregate of 11-0, the Czechs bounced back to thump Switzerland 6-1 and hold on to third place. Could a nation like Finland, Germany, or Sweden shake things up in the quarter-finals? Stay tuned!
