Total ban of bags

On the 1st of November 2023, the Swedish police authorities decided on a total ban of bags for all major events, which also applies to the upcoming World Junior Championship in Gothenburg. The ban aims to increase overall security at public events.

The restriction applies to all sorts of bags, including small handbags, totes, and plastic bags. Exceptions can be made if there are medical reasons and when it comes to changing bags, but the latter must be checked by qualified staff before entering the arena.

A medical reason to be able to take your bag into the arena means it is designed for medical equipment or contains life-saving medication that needs to be taken, during the time spent at the event, and provided it cannot be carried in the spectator’s pocket.
