The volunteers are the most important part of an event. Without them, the 2024 IIHF World Junior Championship would not be possible. For this tournament, we have approximately 400 volunteers working in different areas. We have talked to two of our volunteers, Alise Frideberga and Ewa Fagerlund, asking them about their expectations for the tournament
Alise Frideberga will work as a Team Hostess for team Latvia during the WJC. Her tasks will include being available and supporting the team, from arrival to departure. Alise will follow the team to training and games, ensuring the players have everything they need, and perhaps advise them on what to do and discover outside the arenas.

What are you most looking forward to during the championship?
“At the volunteer kick-off, we talked about how the whole city will ’breathe’ ice hockey. I'm really looking forward to that, just being able to be a part of the World Junior Championship in Gothenburg.”

Guess the medalists of the tournament!
“You can never know with juniors, but of course, I hope Sweden will be at the top so that we can continue the party even after the tournament. So, let’s say, 1) Sweden, 2) USA, and 3) Canada.”
Ewa Fagerlund will work as a team leader for one of the event's media teams. Her task will be to ensure that the right personnel are in the right place, and to serve the media so that everything flows smoothly. Ewa will move between media areas to provide the best possible service for all media representatives.

What are you most looking forward to during the championship?
“I look forward to experiencing the atmosphere and meeting people from all over the world, it will be really exciting. And of course, to see the young talents play! After all, it is the future stars we will meet here in Gothenburg.”

Guess the medalists of the tournament!
“This one is hard… I’m guessing 1) Canada, 2) Czechia 3) Sweden, but of course I want Sweden to win gold!”
