The International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) has released the game schedule for the 2023 IIHF Ice Hockey U18 World Championship in Switzerland following the approval by all stakeholders.
The tournament will take place in the cities of Basel and Porrentruy in the northwest of the country from 20 to 30 April 2023.
On 20 April host Switzerland will open the tournament in Basel against Finland in the evening. Last season’s finalist USA will play the afternoon game against Latvia. Group B also includes promoted team Norway, which will enter the tournament on 21 April in a game against host Switzerland.
In Group A in Porrentruy, defending champion Sweden will play the first game of the tournament against Canada followed by a neighbouring clash between Czechia and Slovakia in the evening. The group also includes Germany, which will play its first game on Day 2 against Canada.

The games in Basel will be held at the 6,612-capacity St. Jakob Arena that was opened in 2002 and serves as the home arena of EHC Basel. The arena will host Group B, two-quarter-final games, all semi-final and medal games.
The Raiffeisen Arena in Porrentruy with a capacity for 4,761 spectators will serve as second venue. It was renovated in 2020 and is home to HC Ajoie. The city in the canton of Jura will host all Group A games, two quarter-final games and the best-of-three relegation round between the fifth-place teams of each group.
The quarter-finals will be played at both venues on 27 April with Switzerland playing the early game in Basel if qualified. The semi-finals and medal games will be played during the weekend of 29/30 April.
