Frederikshavn
The 2022 IIHF Ice Hockey Women’s World Championship will take place in Herning and Frederikshavn, two traditional hockey cities.

Frederikshavn, host city of Group B where host Denmark will play their preliminary-round games, was first mentioned in Danish history in 1572 when a small village called Fladstrand was an early centre for fishery and trade.

Frederikshavn is located in the Frederikshavn municipality in the Nordjylland region on the northeast coast of the Jutland peninsula in northern Denmark. Its name translates to Frederik’s harbour.

The town has a population of around 23,000 and is an important traffic portal with its ferry connections to Gothenburg in Sweden and Oslo in Norway. The town is well known for its fishing and industrial harbours.

Frederikshavn's oldest building, Fiskerklyngen, is originally from the mid-16th century but the houses in the area now are from the 18th and 19th centuries.

Frederikshavn styles itself as “Toppen af Danmark” – ”The top of Denmark”.
