World-class ice hockey will be back in Denmark when the 2022 IIHF Ice Hockey Women’s World Championship comes to Herning and Frederikshavn in August.

Denmark plays host to the 2022 IIHF Ice Hockey Women's World Championship in August, and tickets are now on sale. Based on previous staging of major, international sporting events, the expectations of an excellent event setup are sky high.
Affordable tickets for a world-class event in Denmark: Today, tickets for the 2022 IIHF Ice Hockey Women’s World Championship are up for sale for the games in Herning and Frederikshavn via the shop.ishockey.dk at a price of just 120 kroner (approx. €17) for a day ticket providing access to two games. On days with one game, tickets cost just 60 kroner (approx. €8.50).
“We believe, hope, and expect that the favourable prices will make ice hockey fans in Denmark support the Women’s World Championship. We are very proud that the World Championship will be played on Danish ice. In collaboration with the host cities, Herning and Frederikshavn, we will deliver an event at the highest level and with many side events,” says Thomas Bjuring, commercial manager of the Danish Ice Hockey Union.
Denmark will play in Frederikshavn against Sweden, Hungary, Germany and Czechia. The USA, Canada, Finland, Switzerland and Japan play in Herning. Both host cities will stage two quarter-finals before the semi-finals and medal games in Herning. Both host cites have strong traditions within ice hockey and are home of strong teams.
“Sweden is actually not far from Frederikshavn, just as Canada is expected to bring at least 300 participants to the Worlds including players, managers, staff, media, and spectators. There is a lot of spectator potential in both groups. The cities are ready for the show and the Women's World Championship is an attractive event,” says Danish Ice Hockey Union director Ulrik Larsen.
The slogan for the 2022 IIHF Ice Hockey Women’s World Championship is "FOR FUTURE GROWTH", implying that the event can encourage the development of the future of women's hockey – both at the Danish and international levels. The strong partners behind the event are the Danish Ice Hockey Union, Herning Municipality, Frederikshavn Municipality and Sport Event Denmark.
There are many people working off the ice, away from the glamour, without whom the championship could not be held. Those people are the fleet of volunteers who work around the clock to make sure the biggest hockey tournament of the year runs smoothly. Thus, the recruitment of volunteers is in full swing.
“During the men's World Championship in 2018, we were praised for the excellent volunteer workforce and, not least, the kindness that all our volunteers showed. Our ambition is to match the legacy of our staging of the men’s Worlds in 2018. We know we have a powerful group of volunteers in Danish ice hockey. We look forward to activating them once again,” says Ulrik Larsen.
