The IIHF would like to provide the following update on COVID-19 testing at the 2022 IIHF World Junior Championship.
Since the teams arrived in Canada on 15th December, a total of 5,809 tests were conducted on 462 players, staff, and game officials.
The IIHF would like to share the following updates.
One positive case was detected with a Team Finland player during the initial 48-hour mandatory quarantine period and was placed into isolation. There have been no further positive cases among the team.
Two game officials tested positive during the initial 48-hour mandatory quarantine period and both officials were placed into immediate isolation.
One positive case was detected with a Team Switzerland player. The positive case necessitated the cancellation of the Switzerland-Czechia pre-competition game. The player has been placed in isolation. The team was placed in quarantine but has now been released and is able to resume practicing.
One positive case was detected with a Team Austria player. The player has been placed in isolation. The team is currently in quarantine while contact tracing is conducted and remains on schedule to play its first preliminary round game against Finland on 27 December.
