IIHF game official Lukas Kohlmuller received a severe laceration injury to his wrist during the first period of the USA-Latvia quarter-final game on 28th April at the 2022 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship. Following immediate medical attention he was taken to hospital where he was admitted for surgery. Kohlmuller is currently in recovery.
“I had a chance to talk briefly with Lukas this morning and I am happy to report that he is in good spirits and has mobility in his hands and fingers,” said Local Organizing Committee President Franz Reindl.
“I would like to commend the swift reaction of the arena medical staff and the Team USA doctor for their immediate assistance to Lukas Kohlmuller on the ice.”
