With currently two open spots in the top division, two teams can be promoted for 2023 and no team will be relegated.
The tournament opens in Kaufbeuren with Finland taking on Switzerland in Group B, followed by Latvia versus Switzerland. Group A will see tournament hosts Germany go up against Czechia, and defending champions Canada take on their North American rivals Team USA.
The preliminary round runs from 23-28 April. All eight teams will qualify for the QF round and will be reseeded according to their tournament ranking.
