The 2022 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship will be played from 13 to 29 May 2022 in Tampere and Helsinki, Finland. Tickets for the games played in Helsinki are already on sale. The draw for ticket purchase rights for the games played in Tampere is ongoing. One can participate in the draw until 26 September.
Participation in the draw of ticket purchase rights for games played in Tampere has had a vigorous start. The ticket draw began on 2 September and it already seems certain that there will be very few tickets left on sale after the draw.
“More than 60,000 tickets have already been applied for to every Finnish national team game through the draw, even more than 100,000 tickets for the most interesting game days, which is many times more than the capacity of Tampere Deck Arena,” says Heikki Hietanen, the General Secretary of the 2022 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship.
Hietanen wants to point out that if one wants to watch the 2022 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship in Tampere, one should participate in the ticket draw while it is still open. The registration for the ticket draw is open until 26 September.
“Games other than the Finnish national team games have also created a lot of interest. It may be that tickets for them will no longer be available once the draw has been completed and the participants in the draw have used their opportunity to buy tickets. So, if you want to watch World Championship hockey in Tampere, you should definitely participate in the draw until 26 September,” says Hietanen.
According to Hietanen, the decision to bring tickets on sale through a draw has proved to be right based on the great interest: “Ticket draws are a fair way to sell tickets in a situation where there is such a great demand. Through the draw, everyone has the opportunity to buy tickets, not just those who would have been the fastest at the start of ticket sales,” Hietanen describes.
Hietanen reminds that everyone can join the 2022 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship in other ways as well: “Should someone not have luck with the draw for the Tampere games, the Helsinki game tickets are already on sale – and here there are also top hockey games. We are also expecting a great 2022 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship atmosphere and program in the Host Cities, for example, we will tell you more about our fan zones during the fall,” Hietanen promises.
