American referee Jamie Huntley-Park and her husband Ryan Park, who both worked as police detectives, were killed in a car accident in San Ysidro, California on Friday when they were struck by a vehicle driving the wrong way.
The 33-year-old was a former player and worked as coach and referee. She officiated in three IIHF Ice Hockey Women’s World Championship (2015, 2016, 2019), was assigned to the bronze medal game twice and also officiated games in lower divisions and the Olympic Qualification.
Huntley-Park was assigned to officiate in the 2021 IIHF Ice Hockey Women’s World Championship in Canada and was a candidate for the 2022 Olympic Winter Games.
