Since the start of the 2021 IIHF World Junior Championship preliminary round, a total of 2,590 COVID-19 tests have been conducted on all players, staff, and game officials, for a total of 8,167 tests since the teams’ entry into the competition bubble.
The IIHF would like to share the following updates:
-There are no new positive cases among the ten participating teams
-Five players from Team Germany have been released from quarantine and can rejoin their team for the tournament
-From the tests conducted on game officials as well as IIHF, Local Organizing Committee, and broadcast personnel, there have been no positive cases reported.
All team staff and players as well as all on- and off-ice officials will continue to receive daily testing throughout the tournament. The Event Executive Committee has been receiving regular updates via the Event Medical Committee and will continue to review the testing results.
