With the end of the 2020 IIHF World Junior Championship, the groups for the 2021 IIHF World Junior Championship in Edmonton and Red Deer, Canada have been determined.
For the 14th time the World Juniors will come to Canada. The two cities in the province of Alberta were chosen in December 2018.
Host and defending champions Canada will play in Group A in Edmonton with Finland, Switzerland, Slovakia and Germany.
Group B in Red Deer includes silver medallist Russia, Sweden, the United States, the Czech Republic and Austria, the recently promoted team.
The 2021 World Juniors will be co-hosted at the recently constructed Rogers Place, the home of the NHL’s Edmonton Oilers and Oil Kings of the Western Hockey League (WHL), and at the ENMAX Centrium, home of the WHL’s Red Deer Rebels.
The World Juniors will then return to Europe to Gothenburg, Sweden in 2022 and Novosibirsk, Russia in 2023.
