Host USA opens U18 Worlds vs. Russia

The IIHF has approved the game schedule of the 2021 IIHF Ice Hockey U18 World Championship, which will take place from 26 April to 6 May 2021 in Frisco and Plano (Texas, USA).

Host USA will open the tournament with a clash against Russia at Comerica Center in Frisco on 26 April. Earlier that day the Czech Republic will play Germany at the same venue. Group B of the preliminary round also includes Finland, which starts the day after.

Group A at the Children’s Health StarCenter will start with the Belarus-Sweden and Latvia-Switzerland games while Canada will enter the stage on Day 2.

The Preliminary Round will continue until 1st May. The quarter-finals are scheduled for 3 May at both venues with Team USA – if qualified – playing the 20:00 game in Frisco while both semi-finals on 5 May and the medal games on 6 May will be played in Frisco.

With the schedule release host USA Hockey and the Dallas Stars announced that limited tickets for the general public utilizing pod seating will go on sale for games at Comerica Center in Frisco later this month. Fans who have signed up previously for the ticket priority list will be notified prior to the general public sale. Click here to be placed on the priority list.

There will be no general public tickets available for games at Children’s Health StarCenter in Plano.

The 2021 IIHF Ice Hockey U18 World Championship will be the first IIHF championship to be hosted in Texas. The 2021 edition will be the third held in the United States after Fargo and Moorhead in 2009 and Grand Forks in 2016.
