Tickets will be sold in three phases, the first one starting today, next in December and third in February.

“Fans can buy tickets at 79 Ticketportal stores in Slovakia or online at the 2019.iihfworlds.com website,” announced Vladimír Janček, the 2019 WM marketing director.

The first tickets for the 2019 IIHF World Championship was bought at a Ticketportal store in in Bratislava by a goalkeeper dressed in sports equipment accompanied by Slovak national team member, Ján Laco. Former ice hockey great Lubomir Visnovsky also bought a ticket on the first day of sale.

“I am very much looking forward to the championship,” said Visnovsky, a member of the gold-medal winning team from 2002. "I will watch some of the matches live at the arena. Right now, I think my first choices are Slovakia’s games against Finland and the United States. I played at the World Championship when we hosted in 2011, and the emotions for the players and the fans were incredible. Now I‘ll experience the tournament as a spectator, and I’m sure I’ll have just as much fun watching as I had playing.”

Marcel and Junior, hosts at local radio station Fun radio, also dropped by to purchase their tickets. Fun radio is the media partner of the championship, and the station live-aired the beginning of ticket sales.

Tickets are being sold in two price categories. In the first phase of sales, it is possible to buy preliminary-round ticket packages (28 matches – 1295€ or 985€) and playoff ticket packages (6 matches in Bratislava – 1015€ or 815€). As well, fans can buy daily passes for preliminary-round matches; tickets in the “Follow your team“ category (7 matches – 310€ to 475€/1st category, and 230€ to 380€/2nd category), and tournament passes for all WM matches in Bratislava (34 matches – 2050€ or 1590€) and Košice (30 matches – 1355€ or 1015€).

“In the first phase, some 30% of all tickets available will be sold. We expect that Slovakia‘s matches, and the matches of several other top teams, will sell out quickly. We suggest that fans do not wait until the finalphase of sales next February to buy their tickets. They should buy tickets as soon as possible to avoid disappointment,” said Martin Kohut.

It is important that fans buy tickets only from authorized retailers and on the official championship websites which is why there are graphic safety features on every ticket to prevent counterfeiting. Also of note, tickets to the 2019 IIHF World Ice Hockey Championship are limited to four tickets per person, and the online booking time is 48 hours.

The second phase of ticket sales will start in December 2018, when fans will be able to buy daily tickets for playoff games (including the semi-finals, bronze-medal game, and gold-medal game). The third and final phase of sales will start in February 2019 when fans will be able to buy tickets for individual games.
